I have been frequenting Open Mics in the Big Easy for about a year now, and each one has it's own appeal.
Buffa's Open Mic is a newer event, but beforewarned, the word will get out and this venue is guaranteed to be a big draw. How cool this open mic is, is really the sum of its parts.
Buffa's very cool neighborhood lounge restaurant, which has undergone an extensive facelift in all respects. Kudos to the Rogers family for their hard work.
The room is cozy. Ample seating. The sound is a Roland amp stageside. They have a piano.
Add Open Mic Host David Roe to the mix. (He's the guy in hat behind the bar) His ability to pour drinks, discuss current events, and guide the open mic is unparalled. He weaves a cloak of musicians and spoken word artists, in such a way that it's a very enjoyable evening.
There is no sign up sheet, just check in at the bar.
